Deciding where to eat for lunch in New York can make you indecisive. There’s many different places to choose from! If you’re yearning for some delicious sushi, you should definitely check out the Japanese restaurant 15 East. It’s a nice restaurant, the service is great, the food is yummy, and it even has 1 Michelin star.
Sashimi & Tartare of Bluefin Tuna (akami sashimi, toro tartare, caviar sauce) – $25
This was amazing. The fatty tuna underneath was cut into tiny pieces, which made it very easy to chew (soft), the sauce was creamy and a bit salty, the caviar was rich and velvety and altogether, it was so tasty. On top of that, the sashimi was so fresh and tender. I really liked this dish.
Tako Yawarakani (slow poached octopus) – $15
This was pretty good. It was soft for an octopus. Usually when I eat octopus, it’s super chewy. Octopus kinda has the same texture as a squid, but they don’t taste alike. The octopus didn’t have that ocean flavor, it surprisingly tasted a bit like chicken.
Kuruma Prawn Tempura & Seasonal Vegetables – $18
This was good too. I loved the aroma of the sauce for the tempura. The prawns and vegetables were warm and there wasn’t too much batter.
Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Basil Butter and Ponzu Sauce – $22
This was so tasty. The crab was juicy and soft. The basil sauce was interesting and it went very nicely with the crab, as well as the ponzu sauce.
Negitoro (toro and scallion) – $18
This was so good! Freshest sushi I’ve ever had. The negitoro was just so fresh and yummy. The wasabi they gave us is special “Our wasabi is from Amagi mountains in Izu Peninsula , Japan. It is grown in terraced farms with continuous flow of silent stream. ” When you put the wasabi in the soy sauce, it falls apart very easily (didn’t clump together in soy sauce). Also, if you eat this wasabi alone, it doesn’t sting your nose like your average kind, it’s sorta spicy but not overly. “This wasabi is naturally sweet and creamy balancing its sharpness.” I really enjoyed eating these rolls.
Sushi Omakase (seven pieces plus a half roll chief’s choice) – $32
Just looking at this picture makes me crave sushi. This was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the salmon and the eel. Everything was so unbelievably fresh. Honestly, I could probably eat this everyday and never get tired of eating it.
This was awesome too. Everything tasted so good together. The uni was so creamy and the broth was very flavorful. The soba noodles are cold and chewy and they’re special because they’re handmade. “The noodles are cut by hand and then quickly boiled. This traditional technique takes special skills and practice.” . I wasn’t the biggest fan of uni before, but now I really like it.
Flourless Bitter-Sweet chocolate cake with soba vanilla bean ice cream – $12
The warm chocolate cake tasted like chocolate soufflé, the berries were sweet and the ice cream was good too.
Trio of Ice Cream & Sorbet – $10
This was refreshing. All the flavors were good.
Rice Pudding tempura a la mode dassai sake-kasu Ice cream – $10
This wasn’t my favorite dessert, but it was still good. I prefer rice pudding prepared a different way.
The food tasted amazing and the service was pretty good too. We even got a few desserts on the house. I would come back to eat and it’s honestly the best sushi I’ve eaten. So fresh!
